CrossFit in simple, everyday words for non-CrossFitters

What comes to your mind when you hear CrossFit? For some, the words evokes positive emotions from fitness and nutrition that makes sense and is done with a community of amazing people.

For others, they may think of a video they saw online from the CrossFit Games where pro athletes compete at the top of their sport doing incredible physical feats. Others may think of a post or article they read about it.

What about you? What about your friends and family?

I heard a quote over the weekend that does a great job of explaining CrossFit in terms that we can all relate to:

"CrossFit is not just about getting fit; it's about thriving in all aspects of life." (Mike Giardina)

Thriving in all aspects of life. I like that a lot.

Let's deconstruct that a little

We work transform lives and maximize the quality of life by being the best in the world at group fitness classes and simple, effective nutrition coaching.

Our workouts build and improve the mind-body connection. Doing physically challenging workouts cultivates a strong sense of presence and the critical skill of focus and being present. We learn to block distractions so that we can accomplish a task.

All of us can move better. We are all learners. Through coaching in the class, we are all challenged to learn and grow mentally. This allows us to continue to develop cognitively across our lifetime and maintain neural plasticity.

Our group classes foster deep, meaningful connections with others and create community. Even introverts (like me) need meaningful human connection. I have yet to find anything more effective at driving connection than working out together in a CrossFit class.

We measure what we do in the workouts, and that lets us quantify improvement over time. Achieving goals empowers us as individuals and gives us the chance to celebrate each other.

Our nutrition coaching focuses on healthy habits and simple approaches to food so that we can simultaneously enjoy food and properly fuel our bodies across our lifetime.

Health = Fitness across a lifetime

I love this definition of health. Isn't this what we all want?

That's why Tish and I are here as gym owers. That's why Daisi, Andy, Matt, and I are here as coaches. This isn't just something to do or one of many ways to work out. This is about empowering our community to take control of their health and fitness across their lifetime. We want you to thrive in all aspects of life.
