About Coach

I love helping people learn how to look forward to going to the gym and enjoy working out. I was a runner in high school and slowly morphed into a road cyclist for much of my late 20s and 30s. A cycling accident changed my course, and the next phase of life brought lots of working out with athletic sons as they grew through their teen years. In my 40s, I found CrossFit and realized it was what I had been seeking all along. The workouts and nutrition approach yielded the best results I had ever experienced. My passion for CrossFit led me to open CrossFit Koinonia so that I can share what I've found with our community and help people reach their own health and fitness goals. At CrossFit Koinonia, we exist to help members of our community live happier, healthier, more fulfilling lives.

Turning Point

I had very little experience with barbells, kettlebells, and gymnastic movements when I started CrossFit. A lot of it was very intimidating for me since I was starting something new at an older age. Once I started doing CrossFit regularly, I saw the best results of my life. I got stronger and gained endurance beyond anything I had experienced before. That was when I know that I wanted to share this with as many people as I could. I also realized firsthand what an impact nutrition has on overall health and fitness when I lost a significant amount of weight that I had added a few each year over a decade or more.

Motivation & Passion

My passion for coaching comes from helping people who are new to CrossFit and even new to working out in general learn how to love working out. I want people to find the fitness and nutrition options that work for them and that they enjoy. Everyone deserves to enjoy healthy fitness and nutrition habits, and I love helping them find that.
